9th Living Green Festival 2019 – Canberra, Australia

April 7, 2019 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm AEST

Free

The Living Green Festival aims to lead the way in low carbon, environmentally friendly events. Studies show that adopting a plant-based, or ‘vegan’, diet could do more than any other single action to reduce greenhouse gas emissions!

inclusive * plant-based * multicultural * family-friendly * free entry

+ Over 85 market stalls with plant-based food & drinks (burgers, milkshakes, fresh juice, pasta, sweet & savoury raw food, cheesecake, cupcakes + more). Ethical & cruelty-free products & services (homewares, make-up & toiletries, electric bikes, more food!) As well as not-for-profit stalls promoting animal adoption, energy solutions and other social justice issues.

+ Free live music, talks, workshops and food demonstrations all day long.

+ FREE Kidzone *for all ages* including the annual 8m high rock climbing wall (best view of the Festival & Canberra), arts & crafts, face-painting, board games and books – did we mention it’s FREE!

+ Carson’s Cafe for humans and their canine friends will have ice-cream, iced chai + sweets & savoury goodies for all!

+ There is something for everyone including the family dog!

The Living Green Festival Goals;

  • To allow producers and retailers of ethical, environmentally-friendly and cruelty-free products, services and food to promote their brand and merchandise to existing and new markets.
  • To provide a fun-filled and inclusive day for families and individuals from all cultural backgrounds.
  • To encourage people to be more aware of what they purchase, and to support ethical, locally made and cruelty-free products.
  • To raise awareness of the environmental problems our planet is facing, and to provide simple but effective ways in which every individual from any background can make a positive change.
  • To allow not-for-profit and grassroots groups to reach the public with their educational material and to provide them with a fundraising opportunity.
  • To use publicity generated by the Festival to increase awareness of, and stimulate discussion about, the benefits of veganism for the environment.

Travel

The Living Green Festival is held in the historic Albert Hall, situated near Lake Burley Griffin in
the centre of Canberra. Albert Hall is located on Commonwealth Avenue between Commonwealth Bridge and the Hyatt Hotel Canberra.

Walking/Public Transport
The Living Green Festival is only a short walk over Commonwealth Bridge from the city and Floriade. There is a pedestrian tunnel underneath Commonwealth Avenue.

The Blue Rapid 900 bus (running every 15 minutes) and bus 932 and 935 go past Albert Hall on Commonwealth Avenue.

Getting to the Festival by bike
We encourage attendees to get to the Festival by bike (preferably with baskets for all your Festival goodies!) There will be temporary bike racks near the Hall for you to lock your bike. You can also lock your bike to the nearby fence between the Hall and Commonwealth Avenue.

Driving from the north of Canberra…
– As you travel over the Commonwealth Bridge the Albert hall will be on your right.
– Travelling past the Hall, turn right at the set of traffic lights on Coronation Drive.
– At the first roundabout turn right onto Flynn Drive.
– After 300m turn right into Kaye Street.
– The Albert Hall will be on your left.

There is very limited parking next to the Albert Hall this year. There are, however, plenty of spaces just across Commonwealth Avenue, off Langton Crescent. From there, it is just a short walk through the underpass under Commonwealth Avenue and you’re at the Hall!
