Since 2009, the Fresh Food Festival has been held during a weekend in July in Denmark in northern Europe. It is an international raw food event with world-renowned speakers, attracting people from many different countries and backgrounds.
The main purposes of the festival is to spread the word about veganism and the 80/10/10 raw food diet plus function as a meeting place for people interested in healthy living, raw food, fruit, 80/10/10 and the natural hygiene lifestyle. In other words, the Fresh Food Festival is for anyone interested in learning about how to lead a healthy lifestyle, get fit, veganism and how to make fruit the main staple of their diet. The festival is therefore nicknamed ‘the healthiest festival in Denmark’ or in Danish ‘Danmarks sundeste festival’.

At the festival, you can enjoy a variety of lectures, sports activities and socialising with other like-minded people, as well as enjoying delicious meals of fresh, ripe, raw fruits and vegetables. The festival is a smoking-, drug- and alcohol-free festival and aims to present a more healthful, ethical and sustainable way of living and eating compared to what you can find in most places in mainstream society today.

The Festival takes place in Lejre kommune at Osted fri- og efterskole (a boarding school), a thirty-minute drive outside of Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark. You can read more about the location, the accommodation and how to get there here…

LECTURES
The Fresh Food Festival is a rare opportunity to meet and hear some of the most insightful and experienced leaders in the 80/10/10 raw food community. Every year we strive to get new and interesting speakers from all over the world and the topics can vary from health, nutrition, personal growth, exercise and parenting to emotions, gardening, food preparation etc. We are especially grateful that Dr. Douglas Graham – the founder of the raw version of the 80/10/10 diet and his wife Prof. Rozalind Graham, who have been coming ever since the first festival was held back in the summer of 2009, will be attending again this year. All the lectures will be in English and either held in the big lecture hall, in smaller classrooms, in the sports hall or outside on the grass if the weather permits. You can read more about the speakers here.

FITNESS ACTIVITIES
Being healthy is not only about eating the right kinds of foods. Doing exercise on a level that suits your own physical abilities is essential to gaining and maintaining good health. During the festival, you will be able to participate in many different activities such as yoga, fitness classes, morning runs, fruity games, ballgames and other activities for no extra fee. The fitness activities will take place either outside, in the yoga room or in the large sports hall. Remember to bring suitable sports clothes and shoes if you want to participate.

THE FOOD
Because the festival is an 80/10/10 raw food festival the food will be prepared accordingly. 80/10/10 means that you eat a minimum of 80% carbohydrates, maximum 10% fat and a maximum 10% protein of your daily calorie intake. This means lots of fruit, salad and vegetables and only a small amount of nuts and seeds. Everything is raw and we try to include as much organic, fresh and ripe food as possible. The meals will also be 100% vegan which means no meat, fish, eggs, dairy or poultry. Since it is raw there will be no cooking either and very little gourmet raw food. Instead you will find lots of European and exotic fruits, large salads and dishes like smoothies, zucchini pasta, wraps and dressings. There may also be some more rare exotic fruits available, but in limited amounts since these are very expensive and we try to keep the festival price as low as possible. When these types of fruits are served, please be considerate and only take a few so everyone can have a taste.

SOCIALIZING
One of the main reasons many people come to the Fresh Food Festival is the joy of sharing thoughts and experiences with other like-minded individuals. Therefore there will be social activities every day and especially in the evenings. The goal is to bring people together so they can make new friends from all over the world. It is all about fun and friendship and everyone is welcome even if they come alone and don’t know anyone. Making new friends is simply a great part of the festival.
